Kingston and Ziggler show why SmackDown has such a good midcard. There should always be a match like that on SD, just exhibition style to show they can.

Agreed, the SD! midcard has so much depth in it, it's crazy. You have Kofi, Ziggler, McIntyre and Hardy amongst the title hunt recently with guys like MVP, Chavo, Cody, Christian, and Masters all in the mid card... Awesome stuff.


With that said, I went for the main event. It did more than just show off the midcard or Cody's gimmick (his promo earlier was hilarious), it told a story in itself before continuing the recurring story of Swagger injuring people on his way to a World Title rematch. The match itself had good heel work followed by the usual Big Show comeback before the DQ. The DQ kind of let down the match but it wasn't bad enough to make me vote for the Ziggler/Kofi match over it.

Well said, bud. That opening match is why I record Smackdown! every week no fail. I'm really digging how more than one match and something like 5 different wrestlers mentioned wanting to be the Intercontinental Champion this week on Smackdown! too. I know it doesn't instantly give value to the belt, but it makes the scene a tad interesting...regardless if it is Chavo Guerrero cutting a promo about the title and then sloppily jobbing to MVP in a few minutes.

So, Ziggler's interested in it via Vickie Guerrero, Kofi's all about it obviously, Drew McIntyre is/will be still focused on it when he returns, which means Matt Hardy will probalby be thrown in wherever he is, and with MVP beating Chavo after talking about the belt...that makes him relevant to the title as well. Good show overall this week on Smackdown!, and I must agree that the opening match was heat nasty with Kofi and Ziggler. I've really, really been liking Ziggler's work ever since he started. He's both hilarious (like how he was introduced with the handshakes) and is a surprisingly over heel with WWE...so, keep it up Smackdown!
