 Music Playing Over Promos
I'm really torn on this. You know when a guy comes out to cut a serious promo and music plays behind it. I used to hate it. I still don't think I like it. Here's the thing. The music behind the promo would be great if it was some sort of video package, but when it's live in the ring, it just makes it feel so cheesy.
Example, take a look at this, from this week's smackdown:

 Re: Music Playing Over Promos
Can't say I like music during promos anyways that that Kane was was particularly awful. At first I was thinking what the fuck are you on about, there's no music there. Then they blend some in, and then fade it back out again. Fade it in, fade back out. It was bloody annoying. If they insist on playing music during a promo at least have it going the whole time instead of just introducing it every 30 seconds or so.
Also, I loved the PGness of the beginning of his promo. "as a kid I used to hold my fish up by the tail and watch it gasping for air". Wouldn't call that PG myself, especially considering some of the things they've banned to make it PG.

 Re: Music Playing Over Promos
Music playing over promo's has been around since the beloved attitude era, it was a feature that (as a kid) I felt it worked rather well in setting the tone or mood for a segment.
Take the old school mankind in ring promo's with J.R, they heavily featured mankinds old theme playing in the background and it worked.....nowadays we've got Kane, who takes the similar promo style approach as ole mankind, but he doesnt quite hit promo greatness like his predecessor, but the addition of music, no matter how cheesey it sounds, does help give a feeling of added tension or danger.
Now if you are going to use music playing over promo's like they did with Matt and Jeff Hardy feud in 2009, my like for the music promo dies its all abit day time soap drama(ish), but again, this is WWE PG and the addition of music will again, tell the children when to feel sad, happy, angry, scared or whatever.
So yeah, its cheesey as fuck.....but I totally understand why WWE production team do it.

 Re: Music Playing Over Promos
I'm not a fan of it, but it's not my biggest Kane music gripe. I hate his entrance music. Not even so much the tune, but how they use it. There's the big explosion, then the intro, then the song. I get that they like to have the boom out of nowhere, but in that case just cut the intro section out. You can hear where the boom should go, but they insist on doing things backwards. A bit like when Batista would mis-time his pyro, despite being given a break in the music.
